Default observing Commander PvP position

One of the big challenges for casual pvp guilds and those that switch characters a lot is having an adept awareness of the battlefield enough such that they can help coordinate tactics. The need to have battlefield awareness to organize tactics would be greatly helped by a non-playing commander position. This position would merely act like a dead teammate who can change observation focus among teammates, select players to view skills, and call targets (though having the ability to actually change the "T" target).

The commander would tell the team when to attack, when to fall back, call targets, observe how well players are doing their jobs, and generally just focus on directing their team. This would be very helpful for new or casual guilds that want to learn how to play better.

GW goes RTS? I think it's important to keep things the way they are now where you only have one perspective of the game, and so it takes more communication and coordination and individual decision making skills in order to thrive in PvP. I don't like the idea of having one person that knows what they're doing and the rest could easily be a bunch of half-witted drones who are just told what to do and where to do it.

I'm not sure what you think goes into PvP, but it's a bit more than just clicking on a space and saying attack. It's an absurd notion to think that a commander could effectively micro manage 8 people in a battle. Playing a character is more than enough for one person to concentrate on, especially in the circumstance that I have suggested this idea for, the casual gamers and new commers. The commander would really have nothing to do with individual characters, it would be for large scale tactics in observing and reacting. This is something heavy gamers can do, but casual players have much more difficulty with, it's just simply the way the learning curve works. The less familiar people are with a character in a pvp setting, the more they have to concentrate on what they need to do as an individual. The commander would help with what to do as a group.

A leader is a must have.

An arguement broke out once during a GvG when 2 peeps was fighting over the leader role, one wanted to split, the other wanting to keep attacking saying we can own them.

The GvG ended with 6 people, the 2 peeps fighting over the leader role left.

wtf.... this is pointless, it's supposed to be 8vs8 match not 9vs9, no one would wanto take part as this "captain" because they want to play, it really has no use for anything you if you can't figure out whose going to lead your guild in a match then you should do it before hand.

Even a very casual PvP guild can do this without a 9th person, it's called tesamspeak/ventrilo... Both free programs, with free servers available...

Besides, having compitent/half compitent players and an actual pre-planning is what seperates very low level, low level, mid level, and upper level PvP.
